IRIS National Fair : Entries close on 15 Nov

The IRIS National Fair promotes and nurtures science and scientific research among young Indian innovators. It recognises and rewards outstanding projects by providing a platform for winning students to represent India at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the world’s largest international pre-college science competition, held annually in the U.S.

Each year, research-based science projects by young students of Class 5 to 12, across 21 subject categories are reviewed by an eminent jury comprising of scientists and domain experts. Then, the short-listed entries are showcased at the annual IRIS National Fair.

a) Jawaharlal Nehru National Science Exhibition for Children - an initiative of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)

b) National Children’s Science Congress - piloted by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC)

c) National Council of Science Museums

d) CBSE Science Exhibition - for Central Board of Secondary Education schools across India (CBSE)

e) INSPIRE - Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research

Winners from these fairs are invited to regional mentorship camps and offered guidance on participation in IRIS. With this, IRIS strives to foster the next generation of innovators.

Eligibility

The category defined for participation: Students of Indian Origin of Class 5 to class 12 residing and studying in schools based in India

Students who have an idea that is original and innovative, are eligible to participate; individually or in a team of two.

Research-based projects or novel engineering design qualify to participate at the IRIS National Fair. Hence, your project must be original in content and should be substantiated with data collected from experimentation, if appropriate. Engineering projects should have novelty improvements over the existing solutions.

IRIS will not consider any project synopsis for evaluation or participation from a student who has registered for a previous IRIS as a student of class 12. No appeal will be entertained on the basis of the student appearing for re-examination through any government or private organisation/ institution.
